PURPOSE: To manufacture an Fe-Ag alloy which can not be alloyed by a rapid solidification process by mixing Fe and Ag powder having specified grain size, pulverizing and stirring the mixed powder in a nonoxidizing atmosphere, charging this fine powder aggregate to a vessel and subjecting it to plastic deformation at a low temp.
CONSTITUTION: Fe powder and Ag powder having ≤100μm average grain size are mixed at a blending ratio in accordance with an objective alloy compsn., and the mixed powder is mechanically pulverized and stirred in a nonoxidizing atmosphere and is mechanically alloyed. This fine powder aggregate is charged to a vessel constituted of a material withstanding rolling and is passed through a rolling roll. The fine powder aggregate is subjected to plastic deformation at a draft and a rolling rate sufficient for its solidification at a temp. lower than that at which phase separation occurs between Fe and Ag. Next, the vessel is separated from the rolled stock to extract an Fe-Ag alloy sheet. In the stage of the above pulverizing and stirring, at the time of adding a surface treating agent such as alcohol, homogeneous alloying can be attained.
