Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically, efficiently and stably manufacture ferrite stainless steel excellent in surface quality and workability by continuously casting specific Cr content steel in high speed, charging the continuous cast slab into a heating furnace without cooling and then executing hot rolling at a specified temperature.
SOLUTION: Ferrite stainless steel containing ≥11.0wt.% Cr, further as necessary one kind or more of Ti, Nb, V, Zr, Ta, and W, and further more 4×(C+N) to 0.5wt.% is manufactured by the continuous casting-hot rolling. In this case, the continuous casting velocity is ≥1.2m/sec. Further, the obtained continuous cast slab is charged into a heating furnace before the surface temperature goes down to ≤400°C, and then is hot-rolled after heated at ≤1200°C, preferably ≥ around 1050°C.
