PURPOSE: To improve creep rupture strength, etc., by subjecting, in the final heat treatment process, a steel member having a specific composition in which respective contents of Mo and W are properly regulated to normalizing and tempering in respectively specified temp. regions and then to cold working.
CONSTITUTION: A ferritic steel member having a composition which consists of, by weight, 0.04W0.2% C, ≤0.3% Si, ≤1.5% Mn, 0.1W1% Ni, 8W13% Cr, 0.1W2.5% Mo, 0.1W4% W, 0.1W0.4% V, 0.01W0.2% Nb, ≤0.03% SolAl, 0.01W0.08% N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and in which Mo+1/2W=1W2.5% is satisfied and the contents of P and S among the impurities are regulated to ≤0.02%, respectively, is used as a raw material. This member is normalized at a temp. between the Ac3 point and 1,200°C and temperature at a temp. between 780°C and the Ac1 point in the final heat treatment process and then cold-worked at 5W20% draft. By this method, a structural member excellent in swelling resistance and suitable for use in reactor core of a fast reactor can be obtained.
