Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a lightweight roll having high rigidity and high abrasion resistance by applying an adhesive to the outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical body part made of fiber reinforced plastic and spirally winding a strip-like metal foil around said body part to fix the same and applying hard chromium plating to the metal foil.

CONSTITUTION: An adhesive 2 is applied to the outer periphery of the roll central part of a roll body part 1 made of fiber reinforced plastic over product feed width or more and a metal foil 3 is spirally wound around the coated body part, for example, so as to hold an interval with width of 1-3mm to be fixed to the body part and a spiral groove having the surface of the roll body part as a bottom surface is formed to the metal foil to apply electric hard chromium plating 4 to the metal foil 3. The metal foil part having large conductivity is plated and the gap formed to the non-wound part of the metal foil is not plated and the non-plated part becomes a recessed part having the depth corresponding to the thickness of the plating layer and the metal foil to form a spiral groove 5 to the outer periphery of the roll central part. The separation resistance of a product due to an adhesion vacuum phenomenon is eliminated by the inflow of air from the groove 5 and, since the area of the chromium plating part on the surface of the roll body part is relatively larger than that of the groove 5, high abrasion resistance is held and the deterioration of the groove part due to friction heat is eliminated and the roll body part is not easily destructed by external force.
