CONSTITUTION: A dial substrate 1 on which a plating layer 5 and a surface protective film 6 such as lacquer, etc. have been formed is placed between a die 3 and a stripper 7, and by movement of a punch 4, only the tip trapezoidal part of the punch is deformed in the groove of the die 3, and an index part 2 is floated out. When the punch 4 is pushed deep into the dial substrate 1, the plating layer 5 and the surface protective film 6 of the side of the dial substrate are compressed and cut by friction and compression of an inclined part 4a of the punch 4 and an inclined part 3a of the trapezoidal die, and also the metallic structure becomes elaborate and its strength is elevated by friction and compression of the inclined part 3a due to an inclination θ2 of the inclined part 3a and 4a.
