PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a highly durable and foldable mat which is not bulky and is portable and storable, even if it is thick.
SOLUTION: A mat material M is composed of a textile or sheets 2, 2 stuck integrally to both front and rear faces of an elastic and sponge-like foam synthetic resin sheet 1. In addition, this mat material M has splits 4, 5 formed alternately on the front and the rear face and at a specified interval, starting with either of both faces and further, in such a manner that the textile or the sheet 2 on the other face is not cut off.
