Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the manufacturing method of a fuel rod wherein it can keep a welding property extremely satisfactorily and the ultrasonic inspection of a welded part is performed smoothly and surely and to obtain an end plug used for it.
CONSTITUTION: In an upper-part end plug 1, a sealing hole 8 is made in the central part of an end plug body 3 and a ring-shaped V-groove 10 is formed around an opening part 9 in the sealing hole 8. The upper-part end plug is used, and the part between the ring-shaped V-groove 10 and the opening part 9 in the sealing hole 8 is used as an arc lead part 11, a welding operation is performed, the arc lead part 11 is melted and the opening part 9 in the sealing hole 8 is sealed. At this time, when the position of the welding part of the sealing hole is set to be deeper than a taper face 7 which is formed between the end face 5 and the outer circumferential face 6 of the upper-part end plug 1, it is possible to prevent that a corner part 12 between the taper face 7 and the outer circumferential face 6 interferes with an ultrasonic inspection region.
