Abstract:

Gases containing methyl chloride are obtained from gases containing hydrogen chloride and from methanol on an Al2O3 catalyst doped with zinc salts, at increased temperatures. The gas containing hydrogen chloride is a mixture of the following composition: CH3Cl + CH4 15 - 80 % by vol. N2 3 - 50 % by vol. HCl 10 - 25 % by vol. CCl3H + CCl4 0.1 - 5 % by vol. CH2Cl2 5 - 20 % by vol. Cl2 0 - 0.1% by vol.
