PURPOSE: To manufacture getters consecutively by performing formation of getter cases and packing of getter pellets on one machine.

CONSTITUTION: An over and an under mold 6 and 4 made of a tough ceramic member such as silicon nitride or titanium nitride are prepared in the first position. In the first position, a cup-like getter case 3 is formed by supplying a thin metallic plate 2 to head (A) synchronously with the intermittent movement of a turntable 1. An organic solvent such as Cellosolve acetate is used as the lubricant. In the second position, a getter pellet 5 is automatically inserted into the getter case 3. The getter pellet 5 is supplied one by one by a pellet-forming mechanism and a vibration-type part-feeding mechanism which are installed near the turntable 1. In the third position, the getter pellet 5 is pressed and attached inside the getter case 3 by an over mold. The thus formed getter is discharged outside the manfacturing device by a knock-out mechanism 9 in the fourth position.
