To seal speedily and secure a high yield by arranging a heating element between glass members, heating an entire sealed object up to a value less than a sealing temperature by a sealing material, while heating and melting the sealing material up to a desired sealing temperature, and impressing a desired load onto the glass members.
A face plate 1 and a glass outer frame 3 in an integrated state are arranged on a sealing part on the upside of the glass outer frame 3, overlapping a frit glass 4 and a current-carrying heating wiring 5. After that, a rear plate 2 is piled, these are sandwiched between hot plates, a weight is placed, and when heating load is uniformly impressed by this weight so as to flow the frit glass 4. The hot plates heat the whole up to a value less than a sealing temperature so as to reduce dispersion of temperature distribution in a glass envelope, that is a sealed object, impresses a voltage between removing electrodes of the current-carrying heating wiring 5, and heats the frit glass 4 up to a desired sealing temperature.
