Title:
MANUFACTURE OF GROOVE IN JOURNAL, SHAFT END OR FIXED SHAFT END OF WORKPIECE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2774266
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a grooved workpiece to the final dimension/shape through a single processing by bringing the material into contact with a forming element and swaging it locally towards the outer side in the radial direction.
SOLUTION: With an upper and lower punches 9, 10 introduced, a material 12 is extruded through the orifice 11 of a tool radially towards the outer side. As a result, an externally flaring journal 1 is formed that has a formed cross section corresponding to the orifice 11. The flowing free end of the journal 1 forms a spherical round apex. After passing through a tapered part 13, the material 12 advanced which has the shape of the tapered part 13 with a cross section on a smaller side further advances in the axial direction of the journal. Then, the flow of the tapered material 12 comes into contact with a forming element, and is thereby swaged radially towards the outer side, locally relative to the axial line of the journal.
