PURPOSE: To manufacture the titled alloy with wear resistance by mixing iron boride or iron-contg. complex boride alloy powder with powder of a metal selected from IVaWVIa group metals and Fe or its alloy or an alloy essentially composed of these metals and by sintering in a vacuum.
CONSTITUTION: Iron boride or iron-contg. complex boride alloy powder is mixed with C powder or the following powder capable of forming boride having a m.p. higher than that of the iron boride: powder of a metal selected among Cr, Mo, W, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb and Ta, powder of an alloy of these metals and Fe, or powder of an alloy essentially composed of these metals and Fe plus one or more among Ni, Cu, Co, Mn, P and C as auxiliary components. The mixture is then compacted and sintered by heating in a vacuum or an atmospheric gas. By the reaction during s intering boride or double boride having a higher m.p. and higher hardness is formed, and simultaneously an eutectic liq. phase is generated between boride and metal phases. Thus, a dense sintered alloy can be obtd.
