PURPOSE: To provide a method manufacturing continuously a heat-sensitive recording material which is free from formation of an agglomerate at the time of coating and formation of a heat-sensitive color development layer and superior in keeping quality and color development sensitivity.

CONSTITUTION: At the time of formation of a heat-sensitive color development layer, by a method wherein a coating containing a dye precursor, developer and binder under heating is applied onto a sheetlike substrate by a blade coating method and the same is dried, a latex of a copolymer of an aliphatic conjugated diene compound-alkenyl aromatic compound-ethylene unsaturated carboxylic acid compound having a quantity of acid on the surface of a latex particle is 15meq. to 30meq. and a mean particle diameter is 0.13 to 0.30μm is used as the binder and an overcoating layer containing a water-soluble polymeric material and pigment is formed on the heat-sensitive color development layer when need arises.
