Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve yield by increasing the acquired number of cut pieces without preliminary cutting by a preliminary cutting tool in cutting a steel pipe into multiple pieces with a cutting-off device.
SOLUTION: A long steel pipe 1 is advanced between an open collet chuck 2 by a pusher while being circumferentially rotated in a rotating direction 8, and positioned abutting on a hydraulic stopper chuck 3 disposed opposedly to a steel pipe tip 7. While corotating the hydraulic stopper chuck 3 in the direction of an arrow mark 12 with the rotation of the steel pipe 1, a claw 4 is tightened to close the hydraulic stopper chuck 3, thereby centering the steel pipe tip 7. The collet chuck 2 is closed to chuck and hold the steel pipe 1, and then the hydraulic stopper chuck 3 is opened to release the centered steel pipe tip 7. After the hydraulic stopper chuck 3 is spaced from the steel pipe tip 7, the steel pipe 1 is cut off in multiple pieces with a cutting tool.
