PURPOSE: To lessen the coming off of hard particles and improve durability by increasing relative density and hardness through the compression processing of the surface portion of a cylindrical body whose metal parent material is dispersed with hard particles.

CONSTITUTION: A high friction cylindrical body 11 whose surface portion relative density and hardness are high and which retains firmly hard particles 13, is manufactured by performing the compression processing of the surface portion of the cylindrical body 11 whole metal parent material 12 is dispersed with hard particles 13, by means of shot peening honing processing or swaging processing, and then, machining it to a desired size, and exposing part some of hard particles 13 through the corrosion of the body 11 surface portion metal material 12 only.
