Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the formation of a decarburized ferrite layer as a surface layer when a high Si steel material is manufactured by hot rolling a steel billet, by heating the steel billet to a specified surface temp., cooling it to a specified temp. at a specified cooling rate, carrying out hot rolling and cooling the resulting material at a specified cooling rate.

CONSTITUTION: A high Si steel material contg. 0.7W3wt% Si is manufactured by hot rolling a steel billet. At this time, the steel billet is heated to ≥1,070°C surface temp. and cooled to 950°C at ≥50°C/sec cooling rate, hot rolling is carried out and the resulting material is cooled to 700°C at ≥30°C/min cooling rate.
