PURPOSE: To obtain a metallic material having tenacity and excellent fatigue resistance without internal faults by passing a continuous ingot consisting of unidirectional solidified structure into a passage which describes a zigzag locus, adding repeated bending deformation to the ingot and hardening it.
CONSTITUTION: A continuous ingot 1 consisting of unidirectional solidified structure in which crystals are lengthened toward the casting direction is passed into a passage which describes a zigzag locus and consists of bending rolls 4 arranged at the faces of plural guides 3 from the side of the pinch rolls 2 for sending. In the passage, the ingot 1 is subjected to repeated bending deformation to harden and is continuously drawn by pinch rolls 5 for drawing. At this time, the ingot 1 is cooled by a cooling apparatus 6 to prevent its recrystallization softening during the repeated deformation. The drawn ingot 1 is revolved as about 90 degrees, is inserted again among the pinch rolls 2 for sending, is passed to the bending rolls 4 to apply bending in its vertical direction and horizontal direction, by which the metallic material is reinforced.
