PURPOSE: To manufacture a hot rolled Al-killed steel plate in which solid- solution N and scale thickness are reduced to the minima, respectively, by subjecting a steel slab containing specific percentages of C, Mn, Al, and N to roughing, finish rolling, and winding in succession under respectively specified conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A slab having a composition consisting of, by weight, ≤0.05% C, ≤0.4% Mn, 0.02W0.1% Al, ≤0.01% N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is roughed at 700W800°C. After the roughing is finished, the resulting plate is held in the above state for ≥20sec and finish rolling is started and then completed at ≥700°C, and the plate is wound up at ≤600°C. By this method, AlN is efficiently precipitated in large quantities in the course of the hot rolling of the slab and solid-solution N and scale thickness are reduced to the minima, respectively, and hindrance to pickling operation can be prevented.
