Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of scabs in the surface of a hot rolled plate, to enhance the yield of pure titanium products and to reduce the cost by controlling conditions during hot rolling so as to specify the relation between rolling finish temp. and draft.
CONSTITUTION: In the hot rolling of a pure titanium plate, the hot rolling is carried out under conditions prescribed by y≥-0.36x+241, 0≤y<100 and x≤950 (where x is rolling finish temp. and y is draft). By this control the occurrence of surface cracks such as scabs in the resulting hot rolled pure titanium plate can be prevented effectively, and a yield reduction due to an increase in the extent of pretreatment of the titanium plate for rolling can be avoided.
