Abstract:

Aryl hydroperoxides of formula I Ar-(R min -OOH)n are prepared from aryl compounds of formula II Ar-(R)m by hydroperoxidation in the presence of a catalyst which is a C6-C18 primary amine or a poly(vinyl)pyrrolidone having a weight average molecular weight of at least 1,000. The hydroperoxidation of cumene to cumene hydroperoxide and of cyclohexylbenzene to cyclohexylbenzene hydroperoxide are examples.
