PURPOSE: To facilitate the secondary molding in the subject metal and to improve its strength after secondary molding by providing the circumference of long fiber with a prescribed intermediate metallic layer and compounding a metallic matrix and the long fiber at the temp. of softening the above layer.

CONSTITUTION: A metal softened or melted at the temp. lower than that of a metallic matrix and reduced or disappeared by the mutual diffusion of the metallic matrix or fiber is prepd. The circumference of long fiber is provided with the metal to form an intermediate metallic layer. Next, the metallic matrix and the long fiber are compounded by hot pressing or the like at the temp. of softening or melting the intermediate metallic layer. Then, an interface layer is arranged around the long fiber without vacancy, by which the interface control type long fiber reinforced metal in which secondary molding is permitted can be obtd.
