PURPOSE: To obtain the light interior material excellent in design property by a method in which while a plurality of piles are formed on one surface of an endless beltlike porous body, the root part of the pile is integrally connected to the porous body by coating with liquid resin and its solidification, and then the porous body is removed from the resin layer.

CONSTITUTION: The porous body 1 composed by using flat yarn made of, e.g., polypropylene is revolved at a prescribed speed, and a plurality of piles 5b are formed on the lower surface of the porous body 1 by tufting a pile yarn 5a from the side of upper surface of the porous body 1 by a tuft machine 5. Next, the upper surface of the porous body 1 is coated uniformly with molten polyethylene 6a, whereby a resin layer 6b is formed. The pile yarn 5a and the polyethylene 6a are adapted mutually by the nipping compression of a pair of rollers 7a, 7b, and they are cooled and solidified, whereby the polyethylene 6a is integrally connected to the pile yarn 5a. Next, after said materials have passed a separating roller 8, the resin layer 6b is pulled upward by transporting rollers 9a, 9b, and is separated from the porous body 1. Then a plurality of piles 5b are formed on the surface of the resin layer 6b. Since obtained interior material has no base cloth, it is light and excellent in design property.
