PURPOSE: To efficiently manufacture an iron sliding part so that a rustproof layer with a sufficient rustproof effect can be formed at the proper thickness and the surface lubricity of the iron sliding part can be exerted.

CONSTITUTION: An iron metal material is cut-machined (101) into the desired sliding part shape with the machining oil containing a sulfur extreme-pressure additive, the machined iron sliding part is washed with an organic alkaline aqueous solution (102), it is then heated and dried in the nonoxidizing atmosphere (103), and an iron-sulfur nonstoichiometric compound layer with rustproofness and lubricity is formed on the surface of the sliding part.
