Abstract:
PURPOSE: To give a glass material no harm, to prolong the life of an abrading means and to absorb errors generated in a moving route of an abrading tool by abrading peripheral edge of a laminated window where an oversized pastic material is held therebetween with an abrasive belt.
CONSTITUTION: In order to remove excess plastic interlayer material, the abrading tool having the endless abrasive belt 1 is provided and the belt 1 is run around pulleys 2, 3 which are freely rotably attached to a retractable joining member 30 having parts 1, 5. The joining member 30 can extend the belt 1 so as to be tensed by moving a mobile part 5 in a shaft line direction toward a fixed part 4. The belt 1 has abrasive particles of silica or alumina on a fibrous matrix 6 of woven backing material 7. The belt preferably has sufficiently mild abrasion characteristics and abrades a relatively soft internal layer material without injuring an adjacent hard layer too much.
