PURPOSE: To improve the accuracy of a lens type body having both sides symmetrical with each other, and its similar body by a method wherein after working by retaining it in an open-close type fitting and removing device, a working face is delivered and attracted to a sucking type fitting and removing device having a common reference center shaft line and then, the other face is worked.

CONSTITUTION: A blank material 27 is retained in an open-close type chuck 10 and a spindle 4 and the chuck 10 are advanced forward respectively, and a working is performed with a grinding plate 5 and a grinding plate 6. Next, the spindle 4 is retreated and then, the chuck 10 is advanced to a sucking chuck 11 and the finished face of the blank material 27 is attracted to the sucking chuck 11 to perform a receiving and a delivery. Next, the chuck 10 is opened and returned to the former position. And a new blank material 27 is retained in the chuck. Then, the spindle 4 and the chucks 10, 11 are advanced, forward respectively and the blank material 27 retained in both chucks 10, 11 are ground and polished, simultaneously. In said manner, a symmetrical type both face working can be performed in a high accuracy quickly.
