PURPOSE: To reduce the dispersion of the flange thickness by performing a finish rolling by hot rolling with the passing one pass each in order of the pass regulating the flange tip position and the pass adaptive to the aiming flange width and thickness.

CONSTITUTION: A light H-shape steel whose flange 7 thickness is ≤4/100 of the width is manufactured by hot rolling. The finish rolling following an intermediate rolling by a universal intermediate rolling mill is performed by regulating the flange 7 tip position by the stepped parts of the horizontal rolls 21, 21' of a 1st universal rolling mill. The flange 7 is passed through the recessed part 26 adapted for the aiming flange 7 width and thickness of the vertical rolls 23, 23' of a 2nd universal rolling mill as well. The hot rolling is thus executed by passing the material to be rolled one pass each in order. Consequently, the accuracy in the web deviation can be improved.
