PURPOSE: To form a light metal forming product having high strength with good accuracy by heating light metal raw material to the temp. in semi-molten state coexisting solid-phase and liquid-phase and pressing this material into a cavity for forming product to form the material to the prescribed shape.
CONSTITUTION: The light metal material of Al, etc., is heated to the temp. in the semi-molten state coexisting the solid-state and liquid-phase and the semi-solidified Al A is set in the pressing chamber 14 of upper mold 12 in a forming mold body 11. Successively, pressurization in the pressing chamber 14 of the upper mold 12 is executed with a punch 16 for pressurizing and the semi-molten Al A in the pressing chamber 14 is pressed in the cavities 12a, 13a for forming product through different steplike contracting part 15. The semi-molten Al A is formed to the prescribed shape in the cavities 12a, 13a for forming product while pressurizing it to form wheel parts of Al yoke 2, etc. By this method, the structure of the light metal raw material is made to be dent and of high strength, and the durability is improved and this molten material can be formed to the aimed shape with good accuracy.
