PURPOSE: To enhance the producing efficiency by removing poorly achieved items due to shortcircuiting on the way of manufacturing processes for a liquid crystal display element.
CONSTITUTION: Segment electrodes 2A, 2B,...2L, 3A,...3L and a common electrode are formed in patterns such that connections are made at every other pieces to auxiliary electrodes 4A, 4B capable of being cut away later, and a voltage is impressed between the aux. electrodes after encapsulation of liquid crystal, and a lighting inspection takes place upon arrangement of a polarizing film. According to this configuration, inspection of shortcircuit can be done in a short time ocularly using a simple inspecting device. After the inspection, the aux. electrodes 4A, 4B are cut away, and thus a liquid crystal display element is manufactured.
