PURPOSE: To mitigate anisotropy of a film in an axial and widthwise directions of a machine, by turning either one of an inner and outer dies at the time of extrusion film manufacturing of molten state resin by a circular die.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of molding of a film of liquid crystal whole aromatic polyester through melting and extrusion of the same by a circular die, either one of an outer and inner dies of the circular die is turned in the direction meeting at right angles with a discharge direction, to which shear stress of that direction is applied. A cylindrical film is obtained by controlling an angle αto be formed by an orienting direction of a molecular chain and an extruding direction of the film at 0<α<90°. The cylindrical film is made into a sheet of a flat film where orientation axes have been crossed by performing roll pressure contact of the cylindrical film directly after the same has come out of a die lip. With the above-mentioned method, besides that a liquid crystal whole aromatic polyester film which has been oriented multi-axially and intensely, has high strength and has improved in its tear properties can be manufactured, continuous production also becomes possible.
