PURPOSE: To manufacture a manifold having a runner by pouring ceramic slurry into a mold, solidifying and sintering it thereby forming a fore for runner, holding the core in the mold, casting molten metal and removing the core.
CONSTITUTION: One pair of the metallic molds bisecting the runner in the longitudinal direction and having groove shaped mold surfaces are formed, and these molds are set and the slurry of SiO2-based ceramic powder is forcibly charged from one side of hole and filled up into a hollow part. Thereafter, the whole mold is dried and the SiO2 ceramic powder is bonded with binder and the metal mold is separated and the solid material is taken out and the binder is thermally decomposed and removed to obtain the core 7. The core 7 is set in the metal mold and the casting material 17 is cast. The core 7 inserted in a metal block 17a is dipped into alkali fused salt 18 and removed by reaction crushing. By this method, the manifold having a space corresponding to the shape of the core 7 is obtd.
