PURPOSE: To obtain a matted film having a desired matting, by stretching longitudinally a polypropylene film, and coating the surface thereof with an aqueous resin dispersion that will exhibit ununiform stretching behavior when lateral stretching is effected.
CONSTITUTION: A polypropylene film is stretched longitudinally into a longitudinally stretched sheet. The surface of the sheet is coated with a resin in the form of an aqueous dispersion that will exhibit ununiform stretching behavior when lateral stretching is effected, and the surface is dried by hot air to remove the moisture to form a resin coating thereon. Then this film is stretched laterally under heating. Thus a matted film is obtained wherein the resin coating is roughened in the course of the lateral stretching. The resin used can be produced for example by mixing emulsions of resins such as styrene type resins resins and acrylic resins having different crystallinities, melting points, etc. so that a desired matting can be acquired.
