Abstract:
Esters of methacrylic acid are produced by transesterifying methacrylic acid methyl ester with alcohols containing at least 2 carbon atoms in the presence of a transesterification catalyst and a polymerisation inhibitor, the transesterification catalyst being lithium hydroxide used in a quantity of from 0.01 to 2% by weight, based on the total weight of the reactants.
