Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a manufacture of modified wood having the properties of small wood decoloration, retaining woody feelings of natural wood, and also having an excellent dimensional stability.
CONSTITUTION: Wood, which is impregnated with a compound having two or more aldehyde groups such as glyoxal, glutaric aldehyde, phthalic aldehyde, is heated by the use of an acid catalyst in the vapor atmosphere of a hormaldehyde derivative, and then subjected to a formalization treatment.
