CONSTITUTION: In a method of producing the split dies 1 that are radially and closely assembled to make up at least one of two molding dies 2, 4 for defining a molding cavity, the frame 24 is attached around the matrix 17 having a contoured surface corresponding to the molding contoured surfaces of the splits 11, the matrix 17 having the frame 24 attached thereto is submerged in a molten metal, the matrix 17 is taken out, and is cooled, and the cooled splits 11 are pressed to the matrix 17 closely to finish the surfaces of the split dies 11. Thus, a molding die having a complicated configuration can be produced inexpensively.
