PURPOSE: To enable hot pressing in inert gas without using hydrogen gas at the time of compacting to a core plate with the hot pressing by blending the specific ratio of material, which forms carbonate by reaction with CO2 in the air, with Cu alloy powder and graphite powder at the time of manufacturing a disk-like powder compacting body in a multi-plates type clutch plate.
CONSTITUTION: For the disk-like powder compacting body in the multi-plates type clutch plate, the raw material having composition composed of, e.g. 20% graphite powder, 5% each of Sn and Zn powders and mixing 0.1-1.0% Na2CO3 as the carbonate of alkali metal, which generates the carbonate by coming into reaction with CO2 in the air, and the balance copper alloy powder, is used. This mixed powder is compacted and hot-pressed under inert gas atmosphere at 700-850°C with the core plate to be stuck. Although the dangerous high reducing hydrogen gas is not used, the reducing CO gas is generated during hot- pressing and oxide in the raw material is reduced, and the multi-plates type clutch plate having excellent peel strength to the core plate is safely manufactured.
