In this forming method, when a head part of a work 1 is formed by a punch 13 in a forming unit of a first stage, a pin 14 is advanced to extrude the work 1 from a die 12, and the extruded work 1 is locked to a groove in a movable member 21 of a locking means. Then, the work 1 is chucked by chucking claws 31, 32, the pin 14 is retracted inside the die 12 to separate the work 1 from the pin 14. Then, the work 1 is transferred to a next forming unit by the chucking claws 31, 32. Since the work 1 is extruded from the die 12 by advancing the pin 14 and projecting it from the die 12, a pipe for extruding the work which has been necessary in a conventional practice can be dispensed with.
