PURPOSE: To improve the magnetic flux density of a steel and also its iron loss by subjecting the hot-rolled plate of a steel containing specific proportions of C and Si to winding, heating, and cooling in order under respective specific temperature conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A steel, containing 0.1% or less C and 3.5% or less Si, together with, as needed, 0.1W0.5% Al, 0.3W1.0% Mn, and 0.03W0.2% P, is hot-rolled. Then the hot-rolled steel plate is wound up at 650°C or more, heated at 700°C or more for 30sec or more, and then cooled to 300W500°C at a cooling rate of 5°C/sec or more and held in the temperature range for another 30sec or more. Then, the steel plate is subjected to a cold rolling and then to annealing at a heating rate of 100°C/min or more. Thus, a nonoriented electric iron plate containing a well-controlled dispersed carbide and having a low iron loss and a high magnetic flux density can be obtained.
