Title:
MANUFACTURE OF OXIDE SUPERCONDUCTIVE WIRE ROD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02199720
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To continuously manufacture an oxide superconductive wire rod with fully removed cavities and a desired composition of extremely high critical current density by having a sintered-structure wire rod with superconductive composition of a Y-Ba-Cu-O group oxide preheated at 800°C or more and a raw wire rod further heated at a temperature of melted point or more on a local basis to a melted portion.

CONSTITUTION: A sintered raw wire rod 1 with superconductive composition of a Y-Ba-Cu-O group is preheated at 800°C or more in an oxygen atmosphere of pressure 0.1-0.4. The preheated raw wire rod 1 is locally heated at a temperature of melted point or more in the oxygen atmosphere to form a melted portion 3, which is solidated in the oxygen atmosphere. As a result, the viscosity of the melted portion is raised to enough value or more to hold the melted portion between the sintered raw wire rod and the solidated one, cavities in an oxide superconductive wire rod after melted and solidated is remarkably decreased to permit stable manufacture of the oxide superconductive wire rod of high critical current density.
