PURPOSE: To obtain an oxide superconductive wire rod having an excellent flexibility and high performance by making a glass preform, in an amorphous state, of material not having glass forming capacity or material not including such an element as to deteriorate the capacity.
CONSTITUTION: A glass preform is made of material not having glass forming capacity or material not including such an element as to deteriorate the capacity so that a remarkably preferable amorphous state can be obtained. In addition, the glass preform is drawn so as to be changed into a fiber, thereby obtaining a wire rod excellent in flexibility and easy to be processed. In the fiber after the drawing process, a compound not having glass forming capacity or a compound not including such an element as to deteriorate the capacity is diffused in a gaseous phase, followed by a heat treatment, whereby a superconductive phase is precipitated. Therefore, a preferable superconductivity can be realized.
