PURPOSE: To obtain the high quality plastic lens having few optical and configurational strains by a method wherein thermosetting resin is poured into a mold together with polymerization initiator and hardening agent to polymerize it preliminary, is heated to soften it and is pressed so as to harden it under being mated with the mold.
CONSTITUTION: At least one kind of liquid substance of thermosetting resin such as epoxy series, aryl series, unsaturated polyester series or the like, which is transparent with respect to a light having a predetermined wave length and capable of being polymerized, is poured into the mold having a predetermined optical surface together with polymerization initiator and hardening agent to polymerize it preliminary. Further, the preliminary polymerized substance is heated to a temperature higher than the transition point of glass and lower than the decomposition temperature thereof, and is hardened under making the surface configuration of the polymerized substance faithful further to the mold, thereafter, is cooled and released from the mold, whereby, the high quality plastic lens having few optical strain and the configuration strain due to the polymeric shrinkage of the plastic may be manufactured.
