To efficiently manufacture a PTC element by a method wherein a photoresist film is formed and solidified on the surface of a PTC polymer layer, an insulating film is laminated using the photoresist film, on which an aperture part is provided avoiding the protruding part of the PTC polymer layer, as a mask and an electrode layer is laminated thereon.
A PTC polymer layer 1, having the cross-section with a round or square protruding parts, is formed, a photoresist film 5 is provided on the surface of the PTC polymer layer 1, and it is solidified by conducting a baking treatment. The photoresist film, excluding the protruding parts 1a, is removed and photoresist films 5, having an aperture part, are provided (a). Besides, an insulative film 2 is laminated using the photoresist films 5 with an aperture part as a mask (b), and an electrode layers 3 and 4 are formed outside the insulative film 2 (c). As a result, the insulative film can be formed easily, so that productivity can be improved.
