Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain constantly stably a recording paper suitable for ink jet recording, by specifying the viscosity and the applying rate of an aqueous coating liquid applied to a specified base paper.

CONSTITUTION: A paper made by a neutral or acidic paper-making method to have a sizing degree of 0W15sec, as measured on the basis of a basis weight of 65g/m2, is used. As a pigment, a hydrophilic one having a relatively high oil absorption according to JIS K5101 is preferred, from the viewpoints of ink absorptivity and color forming properties for a coloring material. The pigment may be silica, synthetic or natural zeolite or the like, among which particularly preferred is one having an oil absorption according to JIS K5101 of 60W300ml/100g. The viscosity of an aqueous coating liquid is 50W500cP, and the applying rate is 50W600m/min.
