Title:
MANUFACTURE OF REMELTED CHILL CAM SHAFT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61270340
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture the titled shaft superior in quality, by irradiating high density energy to cam sliding part surface of cam shaft, and pressing the remelted part to said surface by a pressing means to suppress formation of surface unevenness.

CONSTITUTION: High density energy such as laser beam, TIG arc, plasma arc, electron beam is irradiated to cam sliding part surface of cam shaft, to manufacture the titled shaft in which remelted and chilled surface hardened layer is formed. In the method, a cam 9 is revolved in arrow direction, to reciprocate in an arrow (g) direction a TIG arc, etc. 1 provided ascendably and descendably in an arrow (h) direction, and the cam sliding part surface 8 is irradiated thereby and remelted. To the surface 8 just after the remelting, the pressing means 11 such as roller, plate composed of ceramic member is pressed. In this way, formation of unevenness of the surface 8 is suppressed, polishing charge for polish finishing is decreased, cost is decreased and formation of a surface hardened layer 10 having sufficient depth is made possible.
