Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screw shaft manufacturing method which facilitates assembly of a nut onto a screw shaft by means of through rolling and which improves productivity of thread transfer mechanism.
SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method, a thread part 2 is through-rolled longer than a prescribed length from one end of a bar-shaped base stock Si, and the end of the thread part 2 so rolled is cut off to form a prescribed length of the thread part 2. In addition, the length of the prescribed thread part 2 is designed to be nearly equal to the length of the rack part plus the length of an incomplete inner portion of the thread part, in which the incomplete portion is formed at the inner and outer ends of the thread part rolled. Further, the length to be cut off at the end of the rolled thread part 2 is set to be a half of the width of the die for thread rolling.
