PURPOSE: To continuously and stably manufacture and discharge the semi--solidified metal of excellent quality by setting the space between a stirring rotor and a peeling jig so that the distribution of the solid phase ratio may be the prescribed value.
CONSTITUTION: The semi-solidified metal where the non-dendrite is suspended by the shear force of a stirring rotor by continuously feeding the molten metal in a cooling and stirring chamber to be cooled. The semi-solidified metal is continuously discharged from a discharge port connected to the lower part between the stirring rotor and a refractory wall. The space between the stirring rotor and a peeling jig is set to the clearance not less than the clearance equivalent to the distance from the circumferential surface of the body of the stirring rotor where the value of the distance of the solid phase ratio in the solidified layer to be calculated by the formula I is 0.4. In the formula I, α and Hf are expressed by the formulae II and III respectively. D is the distance (m) from the circumferential surface of the body of the stirring rotor at the value of the distribution of the solid phase ratio in the solidified layer, (t) is the time of stay (s) of the stirring rotor in a stirring bath, T is the liquidus temperature (k) of the molten metal, λ is the thermal conductivity (W/m.K) of the stirring rotor, H is the thermal conductivity coefficient (W/m2.K) between the stirring rotor and the solidified layer.
