PURPOSE: To manufacture a sewing machine needle which can effectively prevent a thread from being cut at a needle hole.

CONSTITUTION: After a thin part is formed by a rising part 23 of lower dies 20 and a rising part 12 of upper dies 10 by performing die press working to a needle material while using the upper dies 10 equipped with the rising part 12 and the lower dies 20 equipped with the rising part 23, the needle hole is formed by cutting off the thin part. Then, a chamfered groove, of which cross- section is arcurate continued to the base end part edge of the rising part 12 is formed by coring one part at least around the base end part of the rising part 12 at the upper dies 10 to be used for die press working.
