PURPOSE: To manufacture sintered ore excellent in high-temp. properties at a high productivity, by, in manufacture of sintered ore for a blast furnace, mixing the hydrate of slightly calcined dolomite into sintering raw material.
CONSTITUTION: Dolomite is calcined at 950W1,100°C to decompose MgCO3, CaCO3 to MgO, CaO, which are then hydrated to Mg(OH)2, Ca(OH)2. The dolomite hydrate is mixed into compound raw material of sintered ore for a blast furnace in a ratio of 0.7W7.0 wt.%. In sintering the compound raw material, presence of the dolomite hydrate causes to increase air-permeability and productivity. The presence of MgO allows to improve high-temp. properties. In addn., increase of MgO content of the blast furnace slag increases the fluidity of the slag and efficiency of tapping operation. It is also expected that cast iron is desulfurized with Mg.
