Abstract:
PURPOSE: To manufacture solid silicic acid contg. both micropores and macropores by drying an organogel contg. silicic acid by freezing.
CONSTITUTION: A soln. contg. silicic acid is allowed to gel, and the resulting organogel is dried by freezing to manufacture solid silicic acid having a micropore to macropore vol. ratio of about 2/1W1/9, ≥ about 0.1ml/g total pore vol., ≥ about 100m2/g surface area and ≥ about 2/1002 silanol groups. t-Butyl alcohol, acetamide or the like having ≥-10°C m.p. and miscible with silicic acid is preferably used as the solvent of the soln.
