PURPOSE: To improve the productivity without stopping the whole line, by performing sheet joint welding of strip at a reduced line speed.
CONSTITUTION: At the jointing of strips 2, 7, the line speed is changed to a welding speed according to the thickness of the strips 2, 7 from a normal running speed by the order from a speed controlling device to a pinch rolls 3 and a main driving device 11. At the same time, a sheet joint welding device 5 travels in synchronizing with the change of line speed by a carriage 5a in the feeding direction of the strips 2, 7. After completing the welding of strips 2, 7 by the device 5, the speed controlling device returns the line speed to the normal running speed. Then the jointed strip is sent to a spiral pipe foming equipment.
