PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method by an induction heating system by which a steel tube having excellent seam quality and surface skin is manufactured at high productivity and the manufacture in accordance with small lot many kinds production is enabled.
SOLUTION: By preheating a band steel 1 and continuously forming it with a forming roll group, the band plate is made into an open tube 7 and, after applying edge preheating 4 of not lower than the Curie point and preferably less than 1300°C by induction heating and edge heating 4 to a temp. range of not lower than 1300°C and lower than the melting point by induction heating 5 to both edges of the open tube 7, the open tube is made into a steel tube by executing butt press-contact with squeeze rolls 6 and stretching is executed at 125-725°C. At this time, after press-contacting, it is preferable to hold the joint part at ≥1300°C for ≥0.03sec or for a time corresponding to he oxygen concentration in an atmosphere. Furthermore, it is preferable to reheat of the band steel at ≤800°C and to executed edge preheating, edge heating and press- contact in the atmosphere of oxygen concentration lower than that in the air.
